A brief word about MALDEF – for nearly 50 years, MALDEF has advanced the rights of Latinos by:
Advocating on behalf of school children
Training parents to more effectively work to improve public education
Informing the community about their rights on critical issues
Combating inappropriate immigration enforcement practices that separate families through deportations
Shaping and promoting federal immigration reform
Helping protect community interest by defending voting rights

I wrote “On the Borderline” thinking about the struggles on both sides of the U.S./Mexican border. Though in a broader sense, the song is about all of us living where we are, within our own borders – borders of our own choosing.  From the beginning the idea behind the song has been to raise consciousness around this issue, inspire, and more or less state the obvious – that we are all the same and need to be there for each other. The On the Borderline Campaign donates 60 percent of downloads of the song to MALDEF.
